UBC Qualification Programs

The United Brotherhood of Carpenters Apprenticeship and Training Fund of North America, make available a variety of qualification and certification programs to raise the standard of training for our members. Scaffold Erector Qualification
40-hour Standard workshop designed to meet new OSHA training requirements for Scaffold Erectors.

Rigging Qualification
32-hour Standard workshop designed to meet OSHA and ANSI Standards for Carpenters, Millwrights, and Pile Drivers.

Door Hardware Certification
24-hour Standard workshop designed to meet the Ingersoll-Rand Architectural Hardware Division’s requirements for Door hardware Installers.

Solid Surface Installer Certification
16-hour Standard workshop designed to meet the Solid Surface Industry's training requirements for Solid Surface Installers. The program was developed in partnership with: Gibraltar, Corian, Pionite, Surell, Avonite, The Massachusetts Carpenters Training Program and the UBC Apprenticeship & Training Fund.

Millwright Qualification
Program designed to document the training and experience of the UBC's Millwright members.

Westinghouse Combustion Turbine Qualification
24-hour course, developed by Westinghouse and the UBC Apprenticeship & Training Fund, to meet the needs of the Gas Turbine Industry.

Fire Stop Installer Qualification
8-hour course developed by Willamette Carpenter Training Fund and the UBC Apprenticeship & Training Fund to meet Uniform Building Code requirements.

Supervisory Skills

Supervision is a vital skill in the construction Industry. Supervisors must always keep in mind the safety and productivity of the jobsite as well as the interests of our contractors. It is recommended that all members willing to step up into supervision have an above average knowledge of safety and math skills before they attend the supervisory classes. The following Pre-requisite classes should help you make a better supervisor:

OSHA 30 hour, Scaffold Erector, Construction Master Pro, Fall Protection, Ariel Lift and Print Reading

Step Up to Foreman
Meeting the challenge, Fundamentals of leadership style, Dealing with special situations and a study of sample Forms, checklists and scheduling.

UBC Superintendent Career Training
This group of programs is a mentoring program sponsored by your contractor and the UBC. It is intended for General Foremen and company Superintendents. The program involves ongoing instructional segments and on the job learning assignments under the supervision of a company mentor or senior superintendent.
